The AEG Series' slender, single-cutaway bodies, like the spruce-topped/purpleheart-bodied AEG8E acoustic-electric, deliver powerful and balanced acoustic sound, unplugged or through an amp or PA system. Cutting to the chase, you’d pushed to find a guitar that plays and sounds at this level, but at similar price. The inspiration behind Tanglewood’s Crossroads Series is 1930s America, recognising that despite great advances in guitar manufacturing and design, too often the traditional, ultimate quality of a guitar is lacking. The first quality that Tanglewood recognised was that these guitars had to be built to last.

Tanglewood recognise that to introduce people to music an instrument must have a high build quality, good playability, attractive cosmetics and as many features as possible to encourage and reward aspiring musicians.

Using this design brief, Tanglewood luthiers created the Discovery Exotic series, a whole range of genuine musical instruments which feature 4 band EQ systems with stage backlighting, delicate 2mm fingerboard dots, black soft touch machine head buttons and understated sound hole rosettes. All these features are aimed at bringing the specification of a much more expensive instrument into the entry level market.
