This collection of Nays by luthier Slaheddine Manaa has been specially designed for beginning musicians. This great craftsman, known worldwide for his very high quality nays, made the Nay from a simple reed made of nine segments (eight knots).

The NAY is a very popular flute in the Middle East and North Africa. It stands upright like a recorder, but its playing technique is much more complex, as the mouthpiece remains open, with the lips almost covering the edge. Only virtuosos can cover the three octaves of some nay. To achieve this, musicians use several flutes of different sizes.

Tunisian music has been influenced by Arab, Amazigh, African, Ottoman and Spanish (Andalusian notably - "malouf") musical traditions with oriental and even western touches. All this has constituted a Tunisian musical language which has its specificity.
